NEW YORK, June 21 (UPI) — The NHL Board of Governors, meeting Tuesday in New York, approved the sale and relocation of the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg, Manitoba. The board gave a thumbs-up to Winnipeg’s True North Sports and Entertainment, which purchased the club from the Atlanta Spirit group for a reported $170 million. True North also paid the league a $60 million relocation fee for the right to move the franchise to Winnipeg, which lost NHL hockey in 1996 when the Winnipeg Jets moved to Phoenix
