11 ex-players sue NFL over concussions (AP)
NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Nearly a dozen former NFL players living in Louisiana have sued the NFL, the latest players to accuse the league of failing to protect players from the risks associated with concussions. Several former New Orleans Saints players, including John Fourcade, are among the 11 ex-players named as plaintiffs in the class-action lawsuit filed Friday in federal court in New Orleans. The lawsuit says each of them has developed mental or physical problems from concussions or concussion-like symptoms
Lions’ Avril doesn’t want franchise tag (AP)
DETROIT (AP)—Defensive end Cliff Avril isn’t sure what the Detroit Lions plan to do with him. The Lions can use the franchise tag on Avril to keep him off the market with a one-year deal for the average of the five highest-paid defensive ends as soon as Monday or as late as March 5. “I honestly don’t know if they’re going to franchise me or make a deal,” Avril said in a telephone interview Friday with The Associated Press
Ex-Raiders coach Jackson joins Bengals (AP)
CINCINNATI (AP)—Former Oakland Raiders coach Hue Jackson has been hired as an assistant with the Cincinnati Bengals. On the staff with Cincinnati from 2004-06, Jackson will help with the secondary and special teams, and work closely with the position coaches for both slots, Mark Carrier and Darrin Simmons, respectively. A native of Los Angeles, Jackson played quarterback at the University of the Pacific and began his coaching career there in 1987.

A person familiar with the discussions told The Associated Press on Thursday that the two sides exchanged offers over the past week, and plan to meet again at the NFL combine in Indianapolis next week

Giants GM Reese expects some changes (AP)

General manager Jerry Reese said Thursday he expects a strong core of players to return next year, but cautioned “there will definitely be some changes.” That’s no surprise considering 20 players are set to become unrestricted free agents in March
Packers raising ticket prices $3 to $5 (AP)
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)—The Green Bay Packers are raising prices between $3 and $5 per ticket for the 2012 season. Tickets in Lambeau Field’s end-zone sections will increase $3 to $72 per game, tickets from the 20-yard line to the end zone will increase $4 to $80, and tickets between the 20s will increase $5 to $92.
